Team Fishel Renews Joint Trench
Contract with LG&E through 2010

LG&E and Team Fishel at WorkTeam Fishel is pleased to announce a 5-year joint trench contract renewal with Louisville Gas and Electric. Working under this contract that was originally awarded in 1994, Team Fishel will continue to provide LG&E with electric and gas distribution services, as well as telecommunication and CATV installation services in new developments.

"Team Fishel has proven themselves over the years to be a high quality contractor," said Peter Clyde, LG&E Group Leader. "I'm looking forward to continuing our partnership and together meeting the needs of LG&E's customers."

In business since 1838 and based in Louisville, Kentucky, Louisville Gas & Electric is a wholly-owned subsidiary of E.ON U.S., the world's largest investor-owned utility company. LG&E serves over 384,000 electric and 312,000 natural gas customers in Louisville and 16 surrounding counties.

Team Fishel provides joint trench service to place electric, telephone, CATV, and gas from the main services to the property line. From a developer's standpoint, the benefit of Team Fishel's relationship with LG&E is that there is little or no delay in the construction process while waiting for all parties to install their different utility distribution facilities. What used to take up to six months can be completed in 30 days or less.

The joint trench method consists of placing all of the dry utilities in a single trench. Sand provides padding to protect the individual utility and provide separation. Once the padding is in place and the trench backfilled, the excess rock and soil are hauled away. "Once all the placement work is completed, we gas up the natural gas distribution system and energize the electrical system," said Scott Homberger, Midwest Vice President.

Under this contract, Team Fishel sets the transformers for LG&E and pedestals for the telecommunications and cable TV providers. It also includes service taps on the natural gas mains, service lines up to the property line, and streetlight installation.

"Another interesting aspect to this contract is the geology," said Homberger. "We routinely work in areas comprised mostly of layered and solid rock. We keep, on average, three track hoes equipped with hoe rams and an additional two rubber-tired machines with hoe rams beating rock to make way for the installation of the utilities."

"LG&E has been one of Team Fishel's most valued customers in the Louisville area for more than a decade," said Rick Druin, Regional Manager. "We lookat the award of our latest joint trench and reconstruction contract as a testimony of our customer's own commitment to continuing great partnerships,"said Druin.
