FiberLight’s Culpeper Metro Ethernet Project On Target With Team Fishel Construction Effort

CULPEPER, Va. – FiberLight, LLC announced today
they are 25 percent complete linking the Virginia
metro fiber network to the NAP of the Capital
Region, Terremark Worldwide facility. The completed
130-mile fiber optic network will connect Culpeper,
Va., with 300 miles of fiber connecting Baltimore,
Washington, DC and Northern, Va.
“We have crews working
simultaneously in
Haymarket, Gainesville,
Warrenton, Culpeper,
and Manassas to connect
Terremark by mid spring.”
FiberLight Chief
Development Officer Ron
Kormos said. “A number
of companies have
expressed interest as the
project is a lower cost
carrier alternative offering
high reliability and low
latency. The benefit is
enhanced by our
projected path past carrier
local switching offices (LSOs) and
data centers.”
Fifty Team Fishel Teammates are
boring through rock in teams to
connect the high count, high
capacity fiber to Terremark by
Spring. The state-of-the-art all
wave enhanced single mode fiber
optic cable is being made to
FiberLight’s specifications, has
zero water peak, and a 40-year life
expectancy, officials said.
“Because the project is 100
percent below ground, it’s
protected from ice storms, it’s
aesthetically pleasing, and it
reduces restoration time,” said
Randy Blair, Team Fishel
Executive Vice President and
Chief Operating Officer. “We are
very pleased to be working
together with the FiberLight
management team and view
ourselves as strategic partners
who have developed a history of successful fiber
builds over the last 15 years.”
