Q&A: HIGH IMPACT TRAINING

Q: What is Team Fishel's High Impact Training Initiative?

A: It is a company-wide focus on ensuring that all required Teammates receive timely, quality training in the areas with the highest impact on reducing incidents and improving productivity.

Q: What are the High Impact Training programs?

A: Team Fishel has five in-house training programs, including Field Supervision 1, Driver Improvement, Flagger Awareness, Trench Safety, and Utility Locating Procedures.

Q: Which Teammates are included in this initiative?

A: All of our field Teammates, as well as Supervisors and management, are engaged in some level of the High Impact Training Initiatives. Managers, Supervisors, and Foremen are required to attend all five of the High Impact Training programs, many of which have more rigorous training requirements. The remainder of our field Teammates are required to attend those training events which are most relevant to their jobs.

Q: How does a Teammate know when he/she is required to go through one of the programs?

A: A High Impact Training Report is issued on a monthly basis to the Area Manager, Office Manager, Safety Coordinator and Teammate Development Specialist. This report shows what Teammates have received the training according to the requirements, as well as those Teammates who still need the training.

Q: What is the value of this initiative?

A: We know from experience that a well-trained workforce leads to fewer safety incidents. Given all the training we do at Team Fishel, we want to make certain that every Teammate receives timely training in the programs which have the highest impact on reducing safety incidents. These five programs address the fundamentals of our business. Everyone understands the moral benefits of reducing accidents, but reducing accidents also has financial benefits in controlling costs and improving productivity.

Q: How do we know that training is being provided?

A: Another important aspect of the Monthly High Impact Report is that it tracks our compliance by area. This provides a critical measurement of how we are doing on this important initiative.
