TEAM FISHEL JOINS THE CREW OF EXTREME MAKEOVER HOME EDITION
Several Louisville
Teammates recently
joined the crew of a
popular television
program to help a
local family in need
when the crew of
Extreme Makeover
Home Edition selected
the Hughes family of
Louisville, Kentucky for
a home renovation.
The episode, which aired on February 17, introduces the
Hughes’s oldest son, Patrick Henry, who was born blind
and without the ability to straighten his arms and legs,
leaving him wheelchair bound. However, Patrick Henry
did not let his disability stand in the way of his dream of
playing the trumpet in the University of Louisville’s
Marching Band.
Last November, Rich Mauldin, Louisville Area Manager,
received a call from Jamie Archer, LG&E Project
Manager. Jamie informed him that they were donating
some work to the project. Since Team Fishel is the LG&E underground contractor in Louisville, Jamie asked
Rich if Team Fishel would be interested in helping.
The project was located only about three miles from
the Louisville office and Rich sent Teammates Harold
Fulkerson, George Russell, Gary Turner, Ben Hyde and
Richard Olsen along with Safety Coordinator Johnny
Ward to the site. After waiting six hours on standby
while the old home was demolished, the crew brought
electric, CATV, and telecommunications conduit and
cable materials by open trench to new feeds directly
across from where the old house had stood that
morning.
At the end of seven days, the Hughes family had a
beautiful new home courtesy of Elite Homes and the
Extreme Makeover Home Edition team.
“It is unbelievable what can be planned, scripted and
completed when you have a community pulling together
as a team to make it happen,” said Mauldin.
Team Fishel is proud to have been a part of this worthy
cause to improve the quality of life for the Hughes
family. |
