Team Fishel Awarded 3-Year Contract with Qwest in Arizona
 Team Fishel’s Phoenix Division has been awarded the Qwest Buried Service Wire contract.
The 3-year contract, which went into effect in April, consists of replacing the existing telephone drop to homes with a new cable from the Qwest closure. The replacement is necessary because the old drop will not successfully transmit new digital technology. The contract covers the east side of Phoenix and all of northern Arizona including the cities of Flagstaff, Sedona, and Page.
“We were pleased when Qwest chose Team Fishel as the Best Choice for drop work in the east valley and Northern Arizona,” said Bill Pauley, Vice President, Western Region. “We had the equipment, Teammates, and the 20-plus years of experience working this contract.”
Arlen Van Roekel and Adam Jacobs are the Project Managers and Yolanda Hinds is the Support Staff Lead. These Teammates have the experience to effectively manage the job since they all worked on our previous buried service wire contract with Qwest.
Van Roekel and Jacobs are assembling eight crews in Phoenix with plans to hire 20 additional Teammates for this project. Area Manager Bill Yackley is doing the same with two crews in Northern Arizona. The crews will be hand-digging in the residential neighborhoods, as well as using drop plows, small trenchers and hole hogs.
“This is challenging work and takes a special group of Teammates to be successful,” said Van Roekel. “We have to make sure we communicate with the homeowners and do careful restoration.”

According to Area Manager Kwigs Bowen, the biggest challenge has been the volume of work received in the first few weeks. The anticipated volume is between 400-500 locations per month.
