Team Fishel Installing almost 180 Miles of Conduit for Miller Electric in Florida
Miller Electric, a national electric
contractor based in Jacksonville,
Florida, recently awarded Team
Fishel two intelligent transportation
projects in Naples and Tampa,
Florida.
Established in 1999, Florida’s
Intelligent Transportation System
was designed to reduce accident
rates, improve the safety of
commercial vehicles and provide
evacuation coordination services
and emergency management.
In Tampa, Team Fishel is placing
four 1 1/4-inch HDPE conduits and
one 2-inch electrical conduit totaling
82 miles for the Florida Turnpike
Authority. This $3.5 million project
kicked off in November and will be
completed in June 2007.
The $1.9 million Naples project consists of 97 miles of
two 1 1/4-inch and one 2-inch HDPE conduits for the Florida
Department of Transportation (FDOT).
Both projects are truly a team effort with a combined 50
Teammates from the Georgia, Texas and Florida divisions.
The Teammates have experienced great winter weather
so far but working along the highway creates its own set
of challenges.
“Safety has been our top priority as we work along the
right of way with vehicles traveling at speeds of 70-80
mphs,” said Regional Manager Steve Hinton. “And, we
have had to allow extra travel time on
the toll road because some exits are
18 miles apart!”
Scott Barry, Project Manager for Miller
Electric, commended Team Fishel
Teammates on the work that has been
completed so far.

“Steve Hinton, Barry Phillips and Terry
Junk have done a superb job in meeting
our company’s strict requirements on
these important FDOT projects,” said
Barry. “We feel that their commitment
to professionalism and safety has
contributed to our project’s early
success.”
