THE PASSING OF THE WORLD'S GREATEST DITCH DIGGER

On June 17, 2009, Team Fishel lost a life-long friend and
dedicated Teammate of 50 years. John Blair passed
away suddenly and unexpectedly at his home in Dayton,
Ohio.
John first joined The Fishel Company on June 3, 1957
as a Laborer working for Albert Hannah. John traveled
throughout the Midwest working on large conduit and
manhole jobs for Ohio Bell.
In 1983, he relocated to Dallas, Texas and spent the
next 13 years working as a Foreman for Dick Fishel and
Randy Blair.
In 1996, John returned to Ohio and worked as a
Supervisor for Scott Homberger. In 2004, John received
the Craftsmanship of the Year award by the Central Ohio
Builders’ Exchange.
“John set the standard for excellence for our Customers
and provided leadership and inspiration to many
generations of Teammates,” said John Phillips, President
and CEO.
Diane Keeler recalls Ken Fishel often saying, “The
Lord broke the mold when He made John Blair. John is
truly in a class all by himself.”
Thank you John, for all your contributions to Team Fishel
over your 50 year career. We will all miss you.
