TEAM FISHEL'S WELLNESS PROGRAM A SUCCESS:
Project Update and Preliminary Results
Participation
Participation was outstanding in
Team Fishel’s first annual wellness
event. 1,117 Teammates and
spouses participated in onsite
biometric screenings at over 22
Team Fishel locations. This included
863 health plan participants, as well
as an additional 254 Teammates and
spouses who voluntarily participated.
After the first 3 weeks of coaching
calls, over 300 participants have
completed their health coaching
Review of Findings call.
Awareness and Educational Impact
A key objective of the program
focused on the improvement of
personal health through improved
awareness and education. The initial
results suggest the program has
made a significant impact with the
awareness of Teammate health. This
is demonstrated in the difference
between Teammates’ self-perception
of their health as reported in the
survey and the actual biometric
health measures:
The results show that only 2%
of the participants self-reported
that they were in below average
or poor health. However, actual
biometrics demonstrated that 29%
of participants were at high or very
high risk. Likewise, 74% of the
participants self-reported that they
were in good or great health, but only
49% received a passing 71 or higher
on the assessment (ideal or low risk.)
Finally, there was a significant
difference between the number of
individuals who self-reported health
conditions and the number identified
by biometrics.
The health coaches are identifying
these differences and talking to
Teammates about the risks identified
by the HRA in the Review of Findings
calls. The coaches are also referring
Teammates into CIGNA’s Disease
Management Program, Well Aware,
as needed or scheduling follow-up
coaching calls for those who set
goals to improve.
Overall Score
The average wellness score for
Team Fishel was 64. This score is an
indicator of wellness that takes into
account only the scored biometric
measurements. This score provides
an indication of Teammates’ health
status. Team Fishel’s score is below
the industry average (manufacturing/
distribution/labor companies) of
68.50. The average result for the
entire HealthCheck360° screened
population (all industries) is 71.65.
Summary
These preliminary results show
a large amount of previously
unidentified risk factors. This is
consistent with our industry, but
several programs are already in
place to address the identified
conditions. Health coaches will be
reviewing individual results with all
participants. Health coaches will
also refer appropriate Teammates to
CIGNA’s Well Aware program. We
now have the necessary support
structures in place – education
through onsite screenings and
individualized reports, health
coaching, and disease management
– so that motivated Teammates have
every opportunity to improve their
health.
